In 2012, Silvercreek Socialhaüs opened its doors in Downtown Georgetown. Silvercreek celebrates its 10th Anniversary this month, and we couldn't be more proud. For this week's business spotlight, let's take a moment to celebrate this amazing achievement!
In 2012, Silvercreek Socialhaüs opened its doors in Georgetown. Located on the corner of Main St. South and Church St., Silvercreek holds a prominent location in Downtown Georgetown. Back then, Silvercreek was owned by Gord and Barbara, a lovely couple who still pop in for a coffee today.
In 2019, Gord and Barbara were interested in selling the business. This is when Traci Haqq, Silvercreek Socialhaüs' current owner, took the reigns. As Silvercreek team member Sage explained, "Traci worked for about 20 years in corporate food service in various sales and operations roles. She had always talked about having her own place as she missed those years of waiting tables back in university." Sage, who has worked at the Socialhaüs for almost 6 years, told Traci that the current owners were interested in selling the business. Traci purchased the company, left her corporate job, and finally began living out her dream. 
Over the years, Silvercreek has gained a massive following from the residents of Georgetown. Much of their success is thanks to their passionate team of baristas. As Sage described, "one of the main reasons I love my job at Silvercreek is, although it is probably a minuscule part of someone's day, you provide a service in which you can put a smile on their face and hold a great conversation." Whether you're a loyal customer or it's your first time, the Silvercreek staff go above and beyond to provide everyone with top-notch service. Baristas connect with you personally, and as Sage explained, "although you'd think you wouldn't achieve much as a barista, I personally get the opportunity to meet so many different types of people and even form relationships with our regulars."

Traci and the Silvercreek team pride themselves on using Fair-Trade, organic coffee beans, helping create a more sustainable, ethical future. Over the past 10 years, Silvercreek has provided everyone a place to drink their morning coffee, enjoy a hearty lunch, or relax after a long day at school or work.
